About Stray Reviews
Back in 2015, I was having a hard time finding honest reviews for products I was interested in buying. Instead, all I could find were unboxings and first impressions, which didn’t do much for me. So, I started Stray Reviews to help others who shared my frustration. I use the things I review, put them to real-world use, and give my honest opinion. You work hard for your money, and I want to help you make informed decisions when spending it on lifestyle brands.
Who Am I?
I’m Lee Bezotte. I’m an author, business owner, husband, and father of three. Also (random fact) I just love being outside, and I have an old Ford E-150 that I partially converted into a camper. Way back in 2015, I bought my first pair of Thursday boots from Huckberry for $239 (pictured on the home page). At the time, It was the most expensive pair of boots I had ever bought, and from a website I had heard very little about. I decided to post a review video about my experience and ended up having a lot of fun. My son (the one in the picture) encouraged me to keep posting, but I was inconsistent even though I really enjoyed it.
Fast forward to 2022 when I received an email from Huckberry complimenting my videos, and reaching out for a partnership. I finally heeded my son’s advice and went weekly with Stray Reviews. Since then, I’ve established partnerships with brands like Grant Stone, Helm, American Giant, and more. You can check out my review videos here and on YouTube.
FAQ
Do you really use the products you review?
Yes. Sometimes for weeks, sometimes for months, and even occasionally do an update a year or more later. Footwear needs to break in, clothing needs to be worn, and marketing promises need to be put to the test.
Do you review things besides footwear and clothing?
Yes. Especially if it makes claims that smell like hyperbole. I’ve reviewed the Wim Hof Method course, Solylent, Huel, and other things that make a claim that it will change your life.
How do you choose the products you review?
I review products that I would actually personally use. It has to be something I have bought, or would consider buying. If a brand wants to send me something that I would never want to purchase myself, then I pass.
Do brands give you products for review?
Some of the products I review are purchased with my own money, and some of them are given to me by the brand. It doesn’t matter which is which because I’m always going to give my honest opinion based on my experience with the product.
What’s with the cat?
Back in 2011, a stray cat adopted me and my family, and I named him Wilson. When I was coming up with a name for the channel, he was nearby looking at me, so I thought, Hey, why not Stray Reviews?
What sets your channel apart?
The good, the bad, and the bottom line. I don’t stop with what I like about a product. I like to dive a little deeper and let you know what I don’t like. Just because a jacket is $800 doesn’t mean it’s going to be perfect. The same goes for all high-end products.
